I Never Thought I’d Drive a Minivan!

I used to have a Lincoln Navigator. I loved it, but I hated the gas mileage and the fact that the thing was in the shop every other month. So, now that we have five kids in the house my Cadillac sedan just isn’t cutting it. So we decided it was either another SUV (which I really didn’t want to get a gas guzzler again) or a mini-van. Guess what we end up getting? A Toyota Sienna.

Now, I have to say, I never thought I’d drive a minivan. I used to loathe the idea of being the next soccer mom. It’s why I bought my Navigator when I had it. I wanted something big but didn’t want a minivan. Well, this time practicality caught up with me. I wanted something that seated 7 comfortably but I didn’t want to only get 10 to 12 miles to the gallon either. The answer? A Toyota Sienna. It’s pretty, I must say. I love the leather interior. I love the fact that the kids can watch movies in it. I like that the sliding door has a remote feature. I like the GPS and the remote start. I think I may get used to it. The kids appreciate not being cramped in the Caddy. We are keeping the Caddy, of course, but it will be for when I have to run errands or only have one or two of the kids with me. When we go to church or family events or on family outings I will be driving a minivan. Just don’t expect me to put the “My Kid Is an Honor Roll Student…” sticker on it. I won’t. I refuse.
