A Word About Racism

Before I start out, let me begin by saying I am not racist. It’s really sad that I even have to say that. The minute race is brought up the “racism” word is thrown around left and right. I am probably the least racist person I know. I firmly believe there are asshats in all races and I believe in treating everyone according to their value as a human being and not treating them one way or another just because of the color of their skin. To clarify, what I am saying is if you are a nice person, I don’t care what your skin color is. You can be white, black or even blue for all I care. I’ll treat you the way you deserve to be treated. On the other hand, if you’re a fucktard, I’m going to treat you like one and trust me, it has nothing to do with the color of your skin. Which brings me to a point…

What the hell is wrong with people nowadays? Why is it, that as soon as some people are treated in a way that they deem isn’t fair, do they assume it has something to do with the color of their skin. For example, say there is an African American teenager sitting in a restaurant with his friends and this guy is acting like a jackass (this actually happened in front of me). The manager asks the teen to leave and the teenager starts playing the “your restaurant is racist and I’m suing you” card. WTF? Seriously? I don’t know. Ever stop to think that it had something to do with you dropping the “F” bomb in a family restaurant loud enough for everyone to hear about every five seconds. Maybe it had something to do with you being loud and obnoxious. I highly doubt it had ANYTHING to do with the color of your skin and EVERYTHING to do with you being an asshole.

Maybe someone could enlighten me. Why is it that some black people (and I mean some, because not all black people do this) walk around acting like the world owes them something. Why do they think they should be able to act any way they want, not work for anything and yet have everything handed to them (including respect). If you’re going to act that way, I’m not going to respect you. I’m going to tell you you’re a damned jackass and I can honestly say it has nothing to do with you being black. Assholes come in all sizes, shapes and colors. I treat them all equally.

The funny thing is, I rarely see this happening with the older generations. It’s always the younger ones. If anyone has a right to be pissed off it’s that 80-year-old grandma sitting on her front porch swing. Not the 16-year-old punk who has never seen a slave a day in his life. Why is it then that all of the older African-Americans I have met are usually very nice and respectable people while these younger punks have their heads so far up their asses I’m surprised they can even see the color of their own skin to know what race to claim?

I’m not going to apologize for being white. Hell, I have Jewish blood in me. I’m not apologizing for shit. I have ancestors who were slaves long before yours were. I don’t walk around crying about it and demanding reparations. Get over it. You want equality? You got it. That means that I can call you an asshole, just like I would any other person, and you can’t pull the race card. That means that nothing should be handed to you. That means that you should not have special privileges because of the color of your skin and you should not have a huge-ass chip on your shoulder either. If you want equality and you don’t want to be a hypocrite, then I suggest you stop crying racism when being racist yourself.

Reading my blog you probably know I have a hard time keeping my mouth shut. Did I manage to at the restaurant? Hell no! I told the teen that I doubted the manager was kicking him out because he was black and was probably kicking him out because other customers, such as myself and my family, wanted to eat in peace and had no interest in hearing his profanities or his obnoxious comments. What was his reply? “Shut up you racist ho.”

So, I could have gone off on his ass. I could have gotten his plate number as he was leaving and could have caused some serious trouble for him. I didn’t. I simply looked at him after he said that, told him his ignorance was showing and walked back to my table.

If you’re black and you’re reading this, I mean you no disrespect if you are not one of these types of people. Chances are, they piss you off as much as they piss me off. If, however, you are reading this and you are one of these people and you are thinking “racist” to yourself as you are reading this, get an education, a job and a life. Then, when you aren’t so ignorant, maybe then you’ll see the reasoning behind my post.
